1) WHAT TO LISTEN TO

HIND’S HALL by Macklemore is a new Palestine solidarity anthem opposing the genocide in Gaza. It’s a powerful tribute to the student protests that are calling for divestment, and it includes important analysis about the role of white supremacy, police repression, and imperialist foreign policy. He is donating all streaming revenue to UNRWA for humanitarian aid to Gaza, so please listen and share. I highly recommend watching the video first, which you can view for free on Macklemore’s Instagram.

2) TRAVEL GEAR I USE

ICEBREAKER MERINO WOOL RUNNING SOCKS are naturally ventilating, quick drying, temperature regulating, ultra-light and odor-resistant. I like the multi-sport light cushion micro-sock, which is super comfortable and includes anti-blister technology. Check out the Icebreaker merino wool running socks and all my travel gear here.

3) DESTINATIONS

THE BO KAAP is the neighborhood where I lived for 5 weeks during my first stay in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2015. In addition to it’s bright colored houses, this is also the Muslim Quarter. It’s the oldest residential community in Cape Town with a very important social and political history. It has now been designated a National Heritage Site to preserve the social and cultural traditions of the neighborhood. Definitely get to the Bo Kaap Museum, walk the cobblestone streets, admire the Nural Islam Mosque (established in 1844), chat with the very friendly residents, and eat some Cape Malay food!

Did you Listen to Last Week’s Episode of The Maverick Show?

Last week I interviewed Rasha Mediene about growing up as a Palestinian-American, developing a passion for riding motorcycles, and incorporating that into her travels. She talks about her entrepreneurial journey, her path to becoming a digital nomad, and building the ‘Roam with Rasha’ brand. Finally, she talks about the experience of her relatives in Gaza and shares ways you can help to stop the genocide. Listen to the episode on your favorite platform here.
