1) THE MONDAY MINUTE’S 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATE BY SHARING YOUR FEEDBACK OR BUYING ME A COFFEE. I launched the Monday Minute exactly 1 year ago, and if you missed any of the 52 weekly editions you can view them all here in the archive. As I prepare for year 2, please reply to this email and let me know what you’ve enjoyed most, what you’d like to see more (or less) of in the future, and how I can make the newsletter even more valuable for you moving forward. AND, remember that espressos help me write better newsletters, so if you’ve gotten any value during the first year, please support the Monday Minute by buying me a coffee.

AFROFUTURE celebrates the African diaspora through music festivals, fashion, art, and culture. I attended the AfroFuture festival in Accra, Ghana as part of the legendary “Detty December” in 2022. Burna Boy was the headline and it was part of a week that I will never forget. Every year between Christmas and New Years, the African diaspora from all over the world gathers in Accra for some of the most epic parties and events I’ve ever attended, and AfroFuture is a central part of that.

TRADITIONAL JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY. Stepping inside a traditional Machiya to experience the refined world of matcha is a window into the heart of Japanese culture. My experience was at the Garden Teahouse in Kyoto, where you have the option to rent a kimono for the ceremony as well. You can either go solo and join a shared tea ceremony or book a private ceremony if you have group. This was a really special highlight of my time in Kyoto.
