THE WOMEN IN TRAVEL SUMMIT (WITS) is the largest gathering of women travel creators in the world. It is organized by women, for all, and it was founded by Beth Santos who I interviewed on episodes 146 and 279. I attended WITS in 2024 and it is hands down one of my favorite travel conferences. This year it is happening in New York City, May 16th-18th, and includes the Red Carpet “Bessie Awards” which honor women and gender-diverse people of impact in travel. MY INTERVIEW ON THE EXTRA PACK OF PEANUTS (EPOP) PODCAST. This was a fun one because I had interviewed the host of EPOP, Travis Sherry, back on Episode 228, so this week the tables were turned. We discuss everything from my digital nomad journey to my top recommendations for where to work remotely in Africa. Then we get specific on how you can buy turn-key rental properties in the best U.S. real estate markets from anywhere. It’s available on all platforms, or Listen on Spotify here.

NO OTHER LAND just won the Oscar for “Best Documentary Feature.” For half a decade, Basel Adra, a Palestinian activist, films his community of Masafer Yatta being destroyed by Israel’s occupation, as he builds an unlikely alliance with an Israeli journalist, Yuval, who joins his fight. The film has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and the critics consensus is: “An elegantly assembled diary of the Palestinian experience, No Other Land is a harrowing document that leaves traces of hope for a better future.” This marks the first time a Palestinian film has ever won an Oscar. Watch the Trailer.

Last week I dropped part 3 of my interview with Youshita Fathi who explains why she creates her travel content in Farsi and also why she can no longer return to Iran. She describes her participation in the “Women. Life. Freedom” movement against the Iranian regime, including the protest at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Youshita then shares stories about finding Palestine solidarity in Greenland, celebrating her birthday on the Iron Ore Train in Mauritania, and gives tips on how to integrate more travel into your life if you have a full time job. Listen here on your favorite platform.
