Monet Hambrick takes us on her journey growing up in south Florida in a Jamaican immigrant home, developing her passion for travel while growing up, and continuing her world-traveling lifestyle with her family after getting married and having kids. Monet explains how she took both of her daughters on international flights before the age of 1 and shares tips on traveling internationally with babies. She talks about the dynamics of traveling the world with her husband and two daughters, and shares family travel stories from Costa Rica, Kenya, and Morocco, including spending a week alone with her 3 year old in North Africa before meeting the rest of her family. Monet also explains why she is intentional about not instilling fear into her kids, even if she is personally afraid to do something. She then talks about her family trip to Brazil, and how it inspired her first children’s book “The Traveling Child Goes to Rio de Janeiro”, the first on her forthcoming series. Monet also talks about co-founding The Black Travel Alliance, and gives her international travel tips specifically for Black families. She then talks about building her family travel blog “The Traveling Child”, growing her Instagram following to over 120,000, and making the leap from her corporate job to becoming a full-time location-independent entrepreneur. She explains that she wants her blog content to inspire and provide practical tips for families to travel the world, and that she posts her kid-friendly travel itineraries as well as tips for traveling much more affordably. And, finally, Monet shares her family trip-planning process and reflects on the uniquely positive impact international travel has had on her kids.

About the Guest
Monet Hambrick
Monet Hambrick is a location-independent entrepreneur who travels the world with her husband and two daughters and has created amazing adventures for her family in over 35 countries on 6 continents. She documents it all in her family travel blog, The Traveling Child, where her goal is to inspire parents to travel the world with their kids while providing tips to make it easier and affordable. She took her eldest daughter on her first international flight at 8 months and her second daughter on her first international flight at 10 weeks old. Monet’s travel motto is “if kids live there, kids can visit” and you’ll often find her family exploring destinations that many don’t consider “kid friendly”. Monet is also the author of the children's book The Traveling Child Goes to Rio de Janeiro, the first book in her forthcoming series. In addition to her blog readers, she also has over 120,000 followers on Instagram. Monet is also the co-founder of the Black Travel Alliance whose mission is to support content creators of
color and hold travel brands accountable for their lack of diversity within the travel industry.
