Resi Schlage shares her journey growing up in Germany, getting her Master’s Degree in Global Studies, working in the International NGO sector, and then transitioning to become a full-time digital nomad and professional coffee writer in 2016. Matt and Resi discuss the coffee equipment they both carry while traveling (for making filter coffee and espresso) and the importance of coffee grinders and scales in preparing a great cup of coffee. Resi shares her path to starting her coffee blog and choosing to travel the world for coffee full time. She talks about her experiences spending time with coffee producers in Sri Lanka and Thailand and making a connection between the coffee communities in both countries. Resi Schlage is a professional coffee writer, photographer, marketer, world traveler and founder of the blog: “The Way to Coffee”. Born and raised in Germany, Resi got her Masters Degree in Global Studies and worked for international NGOs in India, Vietnam and Brussels, as well as the EU delegation in Thailand on issues of migration and asylum. She then made a career transition in 2016, left her office job, started her coffee blog, and became a full-time digital nomad. She began traveling the world to discover different coffee cultures, visit coffee farms and coffee shops, take barista courses and learn from the coffee professionals she met on the way. She is passionate about specialty coffee and promoting local coffee producers and small coffee businesses. Her work has been published in some of the world’s top coffee publications including Standard, Coffee T&I, and Crema.
