Work & Travel with Remote Year

Join a Remote Year Program and Travel the World with Other Remote Professionals

The single best year of my life was when I participated in the 12-month Remote Year program and traveled the world with a community of extraordinary people back in 2016. We lived in a different city each month, for 12 months, on 4 continent.  We started out as strangers but quickly became family as we saw the world together, supported each other through the ups and downs of life, and had epic adventures together each month.

Imagine swimming with dolphins in the Galapagos Islands, paragliding over the Andes in Colombia, racing dune buggies through the Peruvian desert, mountain biking “The World’s Most Dangerous Road” in Bolivia, dancing at street parties in Sao Paulo, watching sunsets in Tuscany, skiing in Patagonia, taking a special date to the Taj Mahal on Valentine’s Day, exploring ancient temples in Cambodia, watching the Formula 1 Grand Prix night race through the streets of Singapore, scuba diving with whale sharks in Thailand..…and having bucket-list experiences like this every single month!  I did all these things during my first Remote Year program!

Remote Year brings together a community of remote professionals to travel, live, and work remotely in a different city each month for either 12-month or 4-month or even 1-month itineraries. If you can work remotely, then Remote Year provides your accommodations, workspace access with 24/7 wifi, full-time staff on the ground in each location (as well as a Program Leader who travels with your group), and cultural immersion experiences in each city.

While I had already been a full-time nomad for 3 years prior to joining Remote Year, the ability to travel for an entire year with the same amazing community was what made it so unique, special, and life-changing for me. After I finished my 12-month program, I plugged into many other Remote Year groups that were in orbit and joined them for one of their month-long stays…. each time meeting all new people and having an amazing experience!

In 2023, I completed Remote Year ’s 4-month all-Africa itinerary, where I hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, did a safari in the Serengeti, drank wine in the vineyards of Stellenbosch, and watched sunsets in Cape Town, all with an incredible new community.

The customer demographic of Remote Year is majority women and majority BIPOC.  The ages range from 20s-60s with the average being about mid-30s, and participants come from countries all over the world. The diversity of the participants is one of the main reasons I patronize Remote Year  more than any other work-travel program.
